We worship God in the reformed tradition, exalting Christ and not traditions, men or a denomination. We embrace "The Five Solas" explained here as core, foundational, immutable truths upon which our worship, outreach and various ministries are built and directed. To better understand our tradition and direction, we recommend reading the Abstract of Principles of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (1833) or the Baptist Faith & Message (2000).
"By scripture alone" is a Latin phrase, one of five coined during the Protestant Reformation. This phrase emphasizes the Bible alone as the sole authority for Christians. This idea reasserts the Bible as sufficient to guide believers to a full knowledge of God, without church authority or traditions competing, as is the legacy of some.
"Solo fide" emphasizes salvation as a free gift that cannot be earned by works or ritual. Salvation is a free gift to believers who accept it by faith (John 3:16, Romans 10:9-10). We are saved for good works and not by good works, in accordance with Ephesians 2.
"Solo gratia" is a Latin phrase pointing to grace alone as the reason for our salvation. Accomplished exclusively by what God has done in Christ, salvation is not achieved by our good will or obedience. "For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
Ephesians 2:8-9.
This phrase emphasizes Jesus Christ and Him alone as the means of salvation. Jesus is our high priest (a role that cannot be filled by any man since Christ), who intercedes on our behalf before the Father. “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.” Jesus is the One who offers access to God, not a human spiritual leader." -- Hebrews 4:15
The glory of God is our ultimate aim, our purpose for living, and the reason we were created. This Latin phrase reminds us to honor God ultimately above all human authority, to glorify Him and seek to make Him known. "So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” -- 1 Corinthians 10:31
Our foremost goal is to glorify God in all that we do and say. Our aim is to exalt the risen Christ in our ministries but much more in our marriages and families, businesses and civic engagement. As Paul taught, this begins with each of us personally: "You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body." -- 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
God is highly glorified when we serve others in unity (John 17) through acts of service, hospitality and charity. We believe that service must be demonstrated by leadership first, as taught by Jesus in John 13. Trinity is family-oriented and we work to encourage strong families that worship and serve together.
Immediately after his resurrection, Jesus instructed the disciples, "Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. (Mark 16:15). We share Christ because He saves. "For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes." -- Romans 1:16
